Daytona Review and Fantasy Recap

Posted by chadmusselman on February 17, 2008

Well the first 160 laps of the race were pretty uneventful, but the last 40 gave it a pretty good ending. Hendrick racing had some problems and only Earnhardt Jr. was able to get a top 10 finish for them. Joe Gibbs racing looked tough all race with the Toyotas running up front. Stewart and Kyle Busch finished 3rd and 4th, with Hamlin running up front most of the race and finishing 17th.

It was good to see Ryan Newman, the Purdue grad, get the win. Hopefully this is the start of a good season for Ryan. He’s usually a good qualifier, and doesn’t fare well in the races, but maybe he can turn that around this year.

The surprise finish of the race had to be Reed Sorensen finishing 5th. Great job.

On the fantasy side of things browere was able to nudge out nascar_nut, speedy, and smoke20 for the high point total of the week, and take the early lead.

Raddad, who last year didn’t get all his picks in and got 0 points, didn’t do too much better this time with 316 points and tying for 43rd place. At least he didn’t do as bad as Hessler.

RaceTrippin didn’t get 4 drivers selected before the cutoff time, and got 0 points. He’s not out of it yet. A couple years ago redvette (I think it was him.) joined the league after Daytona, and still made the Chase.

1 race down, 35 to go. Check back on Friday or Saturday for a preview of the Auto Club 500. As always, don’t be afraid to post your comments or send some mail through the website to talk some trash to the other players.
