Race 19 – Lifelock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway Recap

Posted by chadmusselman on July 13, 2008

Sports are always better when you’re there in person. Seeing the cars run under the lights is a pretty cool thing. The granstands were packed full in Chicago as I couldn’t see any empty seats. Anticipation and excitement was high for the green flag to drop, but after it did drop so did the excitement. It didn’t take long for Kyle Busch to pull out to a big lead and start dominating. Luckily NASCAR threw a couple “This race is boring so there’s probably debris on the race track somewhere” cautions to tighten the field back up.

The last few laps were pretty exciting as Jimmie Johnson gave Kyle Busch a run, but in the end Kyle held him off to win yet another race, but it didn’t ruin our Saturday night.

Here’s how my fantasy picks fared:
Chaser: Kevin Harvick – 3rd
Alt Chaser: Tony Stewart – 5th
Greg Biffle – 4th
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – 16th
Dark Horse: Casey Mears – 33rd

The chasers did well as did Biffle, but Jr. didn’t look good at all last night, and a 16th place finish was probably a good finish for him. My dark horse, Casey Mears, didn’t pan out. He started 25th, and after 10 – 20 laps you could tell it would be a long night for him. At least he didn’t finish last.

The next race is at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, for the Brickyard 400. Good Luck!!
