Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix Preview

Posted by chadmusselman on November 7, 2008

Phoenix is the venue for this weekend’s race. This is a pretty flat, 1-mile track. Over the years Kevin Harvick has raced well on the flat tracks and especially Phoenix with two wins, but do I had to make the choice to leave him off my team this week.

My team this week:

Chaser: Jimmie Johnson
Like most tracks, Jimmie is red hot at Phoenix. He’s won the last two here and finished 4th and 2nd in the two before that. Overall he has 8 top 10s in 10 races with a 6th place average finish. He’s the man to beat.

Alternate Chaser: Jeff Burton
Jeff has 3 top 10s in his last 4 here and an average finish of 11.1. He’s a good driver that knows how to finish in the money. Look for him to have another top 10 run on Sunday.

Mark Martin
Mark finished 5th here in the spring race and has been solid all season. He also does well at Phoenix with a win, 9 top 5s and 15 top 10s in 23 career races. There’s no reason to believe that he’ll do bad this weekend.

Martin Truex Jr.
8th place finish here in the spring, and 7th place last fall shows that Martin can get around the track. A 13.8 average finish in his career here is pretty good as well. I think he should contend for a top 10.

Dark Horse: Kurt Busch
Kurt hasn’t done much at Phoenix the past few races, but he does have a win and five top 10s in 11 career races. A 14.3 average finish isn’t great, but not horrible either. In the last 5 races this season he’s alternated between being out of the top 20, and in the top 10. Last week he finished 41st, so he’s due for a top 10 run this weekend.

Good team and this was a good post. O’Reilly Auto parts are going to be held on Phoenix preview as it got a good talk and also this is a type of advertisement they are giving to that product.< HREF="http://www.chiefenterprises.com" REL="nofollow">Chief Enterprises | America’s provider of Bosch Relays, Solenoids, Connectors, and Diodes<>
